Article: 7 of the Most Cat-friendly Hotel Chains in the United States

7 of the Most Cat-friendly Hotel Chains in the United States

ID, CHECK!

Luggage, CHECK!

The ultimate guide to flying with your cat, CHECK!

Cat…?

There are so many things to check off the list when you’re traveling, so worrying about your little [or not so little] fur baby shouldn't be one of them. If you haven’t traveled with your cat yet, you’ll learn quickly that pet-friendly does not always mean cat-friendly.

In order to help out, we scoured the internet and dusted off our magnifying glasses to survey the fine print on a ton of national hotel chain pet policies to make sure that they are cat inclusive as well.

Take a peek at our faves as you grab your harnesses, your toys, your travel litter box, portable cat bed, and your cat backpacks, and finally get to traveling.

1.La Quinta

La Quinta has a handful of cat-friendly rooms ready and waiting for your next visit. Even though they tout the rooms as spacious, no more than 2 domestic cats are allowed per room. They ask for a current contact number, and an optional fee may be charged at select locations ($20 per night for maximum of $40 per stay per room). Give them a ring to double check.

2. Kimpton

“If your pet fits through the door, we’ll welcome them in.” HA! What a line, and what a promise. At every Kimpton boutique hotel your little fur ball can stay at no extra charge [if it can get through the door, of course ;)]. And get this, at certain properties they even have a Director of Pet Relations on staff to warmly welcome you upon arrival. Sign us up!

3. Loews

Loews really knows how to make a cat feel at home. According to their pet policy, they offer treats, and bowls, and place mats right at check-in. They also have pet beds, litter boxes, scratching posts and more to share. Like what?! Very cool.

Some fine print… They can only accommodate two cats per room, and require up-to-date vaccination information. Each room may need a little bit of extra cleaning, so give them a call to see if there are any fees you could incur.

4. Red Roof

Red Roof welcomes one well-behaved domestic cat per room. The pet policy says any additional cats are permitted free of charge at the discretion of the hotels management team. Service animals and Emotion Support animals (“Assistance Animals”) that provide assistance to individuals with disabilities are welcome at all properties.

5. Motel 6

Motel 6 is one of the most pet-friendly hotels out there! With no charge for bringing along your furry friend, they get that pets are like family and welcome pets & service animals. There is a limit of 2 pets per room, with a combined weight of 150 lbs.

6. Best Western

Best Western has a select number of cat-friendly hotels throughout the country. There may be a $30 a day charge max, or a maximum charge of $150 per week. They also require a refundable damage deposit of up to $150 per stay. For this one, we’d recommend contacting the location before booking to get pre-approved. With the number of locations and the price point we do think it’s worth the ring.

(7) Courtyard Marriott

The Courtyard Marriott pet policy promises some top service for our four-legged fur-ends, because “if a pet isn't happy, neither is his owner.” That said, the fine print varies from property to property, including pet fees and weight limits, so be sure to check the petswelcome’s individual property listing before booking anything.
