Is This Hollywood Star’s Cat Living a Better Life Than You? Check Out His Cat Backpack Adventures
The Academy Award-winning actress, known for her roles in blockbusters like Black Panther, 12 Years a Slave, and A Quiet Place: Day One, recently posted a reel on Instagram showing her and Yoyo exploring the great outdoors using Travel Cat’s very own Navigator Backpack.
Nyong’o adopted her cat Yoyo last year after filming A Quiet Place: Day One. Before filming, she didn’t consider herself a cat person: in fact, she was afraid of cats, never having spent much time with them.
But her character in the movie owned a cat, so Nyong’o quickly had to get comfortable with felines, and even pretend she loved them. In the process, she realized she did.
According to an interview with People, Nyong’o “fell in love with the cats” she shared a screen with, whose real names were Nico and Schnitzel. "There's something that melts your heart when they hold onto you,” she shared. “It was a bond that I had with them."
Afterward, when Nyong’o was going through a rough patch in her life, she felt inspired to get a cat of her own, so she did. Now, Yoyo, the kitty she adopted from Best Friends Adoption Center, is an important part of her life.
As Nyong’o herself posted on Instagram just after the adoption: “It may look like I saved Yoyo, but really, Yoyo is saving me.”
It looks like Yoyo is also an adventure cat. Nyong’o’s recent Instagram reel showed the ginger cat eagerly trekking up the road on his harness, tail a-wag, before chilling in his Navigator Backpack, perfectly at ease.
We’re happy to see Nyong'o and Yoyo exploring the great outdoors safely, and grateful that they're such positive role models for owners and adventure cats everywhere.
