Tell us how you met your fur babies!
It was during the cold snowy/rainy spring, at around 1am I heard terrified howling outside my bedroom window- I went out to investigate, and there was a tiny kitten huddled behind the gas meter, soaking wet and shivering, caked in mud. Managed to catch him, and called him in the back door of my apartment, where I was greeted by a second tiny kitten that someone had brought in earlier in the afternoon. I took them both in then, with the intention to take them to the SPCA, but never got around to it... so with me they've stayed.
What was your biggest reason for getting your cat backpack?
My cats are young, and have way too much energy for my tiny apartment... so I wanted a way to be able to take them out and burn their energy!
What’s your biggest tip for getting your cat used to your cat backpack?
I always leave it out and open, so they're always going in it to play or sleep.
What’s your cats preferred method of travel in your cat backpack? Bubble? Screen? Top open?
Bubble, top open
What’s been your favorite outdoor experience with your cat?
Camping with them!
Tips for hiking, biking, and general outdoor adventures with your cat?
Every cat experiences things differently, learn what pace they like and don't push too hard.
What are your tips to get your kitty feeling comfortable during car rides?
I let them free-roam, and find their own comfortable spot.
Tell us about your favorite odd but endearing behavior you see from your cat(s)!
They are absolutely addicted to being brushed
Many of our catstomers want to leash train their cats. Tell us about your experience with that. What worked best? If you gave up, that’s ok, too. What was your deciding factor?
Start young, don't leave it on long enough for it to leave a sour experience of it in their mind- keep it short and sweet to begin with
What do you wish people without cats knew about the joys of owning a cat?
The feeling of achieving life goals is strong when a creature so ambivalent to your affection finally comes seeking it from you!
What’s your biggest tip for other cat guardians?
Taking cats outdoors is great for widening their world view!
Any cat guardian hacks you want to share?
Lava rock is a good additive to your indoor plants to keep the cats from pooping in them.
What's your favorite part of #yourcatbackpack?
I get to take them anywhere, inconspicuously!
