After reading some negative reviews, I was somewhat skeptical but my extensive research on a cat backpack led me to order this one. I am so glad I did because it is so well made and does its job great! I haven't gotten to use it extensively yet as my only attempt at taking my cat on a walk in my backpack ended up in a poopy mess. My big orange tabby of 15+ lbs fit in the bag just fine with plenty of room. He didn't even resist much getting in the bag which was very surprising because he hates his other plastic carrier. I first had him in the bag and tried carrying him around my bedroom and he did fine. Then, I took him on a walk with my boyfriend walking our dog and me carrying my cat in the backpack. He usually whines with his loud meows when he is upset like when he going on a car ride. (He did loudly meow during the short car ride to the trail.) But he didn't make any noise when we were walking on the neighborhood trail. We walked about a mile total and in the middle of it, I started to smell poop and thought that it was my dog farting but soon after, we discovered that my kitty cat had pooped in the backpack and was sitting in it. The poor guy! We rushed back to the house and it was clean up time. I am happy to report that the backpack was very easy to clean and the insert on the bottom really contained the mess to a limited area. The backpack dried perfect and is back looking like new! Again will emphasize that this is very well made and sturdy. I am give it a little time before I will attempt my second try with the backpack but I am looking forward to exploring all its features. I am so happy that this backpack works so great in transporting my precious kitty and I am sure we will figure out how to get him used to it so he doesn't have another accident. (;
This backpack is very comfortable for me. I like that I can pack more than the cat. Cocopelli finds in very comfortable and often chooses to be carried versus get out and walk.
This bag is so well-made – the padded bottom, the strong zips and clasps, and the sturdy netting – every little detail seems to have been thought of. There's even well-placed slots to slip the hooks in when you roll up or roll down the netting. That was the *chef's kiss* for me.
My British shorthair Boo is quite heavy but we love taking her everywhere with us, and carrying her in this backpack helps distribute her weight more evenly. She's also very curious so she likes to lean out of the top. She seems to be loving the bag's sturdiness that gives her the support when she's standing and looking out. Sometimes she hops up to rest on the top and balance on my shoulder. At home she dozes off in the bag and is obsessed with it.
I wish I had found this earlier before I had bought her previous 2 regular cat carriers, an inferior cat backpack and a pet car seat because this is secure and good enough to do all of the above.
The construction of this backpack is incredible - better than some hiking bags I've seen. Lots of room for our cat, who is still learning to be more adventurous but likes to just sit in the bag sometimes anyway.
My kitten, Frances “Frankie” Alpurrt Sinatra was very relaxed going to his vet appointment in his new backpack. I was happy with the sturdy yet light weight design. My vet was impressed as well!
